24 Werther’s Original Baking Caramels, unwrapped
•1 tsp shortening
•1 package (6 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips

Heat oven to 300 degrees. Cover a cookie sheet with aluminum foil, shiny side up; grease with shortening or non-stick spray.
For each candy, place 3 pecan halves in a ‘Y’ shape on the foil. Place one Werther’s Original Baking Caramel in center of each pecan ‘Y’.
Bake just until caramel is melted (9-10 minutes).
Heat shortening and chocolate chips over low heat (microwave 1-3 minutes, stirring every 20 seconds) or in a double-boiler, stirring constantly, just until chocolate is melted.
Spread chocolate mixture over candies, leaving ends of pecans uncovered.
Refrigerate just until chocolate is firm, about 30 minutes.
